Many people cannot understand why victims of domestic violence would
always stay in an abusive relationship. In the case of men who are victims
there is a feeling of shamefulness in themselves as several people would
think that men would never be a victim of domestic violence since they are
strong and capable of defending themselves. Men who are victims suffer in
silence because they are afraid to be judged, some of them suffer mental,
physical and financial abuse that the community thinks as a joke or
unbelievable. This study aims to address the problem of the men who are
victims of domestic violence. The informants of the study were men who were
married or living with their partners. The men who are victims experienced
domestic violence were the most credible informants to answer the research
instruments. The qualitative design was used in this study since interviews are
designed to generate the participant's perspectives and opinions, and
experiences. The guide questions are formulated by the researchers. Thus,
this study would help them to have a better perception that men who were
victims of domestic violence exist, not always a perpetrator but could also be
a victim.
