THE CORRELATION OF READING COMPREHENSION AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS IN MATHEMATICS OF THE GRADE VI STUDENTS IN PCES-SPED CENTER, IGACOS

This study aimed to determine the correlation of reading comprehension and
2problem solving skills of the Grade VI students of Penaplata Central Elementary
School SPED Center. The study was realized with the humble cooperation of the
43 students who were present at PCES and were considered as the
respondents; Quantitative correlational method as research design, purposive
sampling technique in determining the number of respondents, questionnaires in
gathering data with the average mean, and Likert Scale as statistical tool; It was
found out that there is no significant correlation on the reading comprehension
and problem solving skills of the Grade VI students, thus, similar study needs to
be conducted with wider range of respondents and with the consideration of the
factor which may affect the reading comprehension and problem solving skills of
the students; Moreover, it is recommended for the school to incorporate
programs and sufficient facilities which could cater students' motivation in
studying eagerly with regards to their reading comprehension and also in
problem solving skills improvement.
