dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore and understand despite the historical impetus behind personality research in sport, many researchers believe that sports personality research has yielded no valuable findings. At the same time, most scholars see little value in global personality measures. Moreover, personality trait has much predictive utility in organized sport and can contribute to applying interventions in various athletic contexts. The researchers employed the phenomenological study which describes the meaning for several individuals of their describing what all participants have in common as they experience a phenomenon. There were a total of 14 participants in this study and it was collected accordingly to determine the experiences of athletes in developing their personality. The following summaries of findings were drawn based on the result of the study. The experiences of athletes in developing their personality. There were four major themes emerged from the data collected on the experiences of athletes in developing their personality such as Teamwork, Respect, Discipline and Confidence and how they do athletes value athletics. From the data collected using the above questions, three themes came out from the responses such as Self-improvement, training and openness.en_US
