dc.description.abstractThe study entitled "The effectiveness of using handouts in teaching figure of speech to the grade VI students of Cogon Elementary school" was conducted to determine the difference of using classroom handouts and note-taking. The respondents of the study were the students of Cogon Elementary School, Island Garden City of Samal. There are 69 respondents in this study. The method used was descriptive correlation method. This study came up with the following conclusions: The results show that in pre-test both experimental and control group had unsatisfactory performance in identifying the figure of speech. With the enumerated findings and interpretations of data, the following are the suggested recommendations: School program heads, as planners of the curriculum, it is the role of language program heads continuously find strategies to suit to the ever-changing nature of curriculum. For school teachers, the teachers are the students connection toward curriculum. They are the implementer of the curriculum. To students, with the result of the study the effect of using handouts in learning figure of speech identification, it is recommended to the students to help enhance their learning by reading the handouts or lecture materials prepared by the teachers for advance knowledge and enable for you to ask questions for further clarifications.en_US
