dc.description.abstract | This study determined the oral language struggles of the students. Moreover, this study sought to identify the cause of these struggles and the student’s coping mechanism for their struggles. This study utilized a qualitative design and case study method. The participants of this case are the Grade 7 students of Anonang Naitonal High School, Kaputian District, Island Garden City of Samal. The researchers conducted a judgement sampling to select three (3) students as the subjective participants of the study. Subsequently, the researchers conducted a semi-structured interview to understand the student’s oral language struggles. The researchers analyzed the data through thematic analysis. Results revealed that students have difficulty communicating ideas frequently, incorrect pronunciation, and comprehension difficulty. Also, the findings of this study show that low motivation, lack of confidence, fear of criticism, small vocabulary, and low exposure to the English language have negatively affected the students in their oral language. Furthermore, the students can cope with their struggles by reading books, social support, developing proficiency in oral English, guidance from teachers and family members, and neglecting the judgment of others. Nevertheless this study suggests implications in various areas, especially in a language-learning environment. | en_US |
