dc.description.abstract | This study aims to know the income struggles of rice farmers specifically those rice farmers belong to the Municipality of Carmen. The participants were seven (7) rice field owners for in-depth interviews regardless of age and gender. This study used the phenomenological research approach to obtain relevant information into how rice field owners who were also the ones who work in their farm perceived their experiences in regard to income struggles. Furthermore, the study results show that rice field owners experienced struggles or challenges. The experiences faced by the rice field owners are the low profit due to insect, pest attack, and natural calamities, grief in farming due to weather, disappointment during harvest, higher maintenance in farming due to expensive fertilizers and chemicals, seeking financial assistance from loan. Hence, the rice farmers managed their income struggles through support from government, budget management, and being optimist. Insights generated by researchers are the importance of government, crucial role, and challenges of rice field owners. In addition, they are giving more importance to this livelihood as it is their only way to survive. Despite of any struggles, they still remain strong no matter how good or bad the outcome is. These findings may help the government and policy makers, rice field owners, consumers, and future researchers as a basis to provide solutions and recommendations on how to overcome the income struggles experienced by rice farmers. | en_US |
