dc.description.abstractThis phenomenological study focuses on determining the values that the students have learned from the famous story of Romeo and Juliet, its events and the characters. Hence, to discover how the values absorbed by high school learners affect the themes of Parent to children interaction and teenage relationship. Furthermore, to gather more insights and interpretation about the phenomena, we conducted a qualitative research and the researchers used guide questions to interview fourteen (14) High School Students from the UM Tagum College. Three (3) major themes were produced on the experiences of the participants. These are the ideas about the values obtained by the High School students in Romeo and Juliet with themes of parent to children interaction and teenage relationship, how do they assess the relevance of the play’s themes of Parent to children interactions and teenage relationship on today’s generation, and What are the insights of the students on the impact of Romeo and Juliet in integrating values in today’s generational context. Eleven (11) essential themes were generated in three (3) research question: (1) obedience to parents, communicate and strengthen relationship with parents, committing suicide and family conflicts, (2) contemplate to our parent’s concern, be aware of one’s own action, wait for the right moment and focus on most essential things, (3) family values, realizations on love and teenagers nowadays. These experiences imply that a literary piece can have impacts on the lives of the learners and may affect their decisions and behaviors. Furthermore, these findings help educators, parents and students to get information about the values that the students acquired from the famous literary piece of William Shakespeare entitled Romeo and Juliet.en_US
