dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of this study was to determine the employee’s perceptions on performance appraisal in department stores. Specifically, it seeks to answer the questions (a) what is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status and years in service? (b) what is the level of the employee’s perception on performance appraisal in terms of skills, performance and achievements? Is there a significant difference in the level of employee’s perceptions on performance appraisal when analyzed according to their profile? In order to get the results for the study, a survey was conducted to department stores, which participated by 50 respondents or employees in a certain department stores. Descriptive research was employed in this study. F-test and analysis of variance were utilized as the statistical tool. It was revealed in this study that by every indicator of the Employee’s Perceptions on Performance Appraisals shows that there were no significant difference exists in employee’s profile. In terms of Skills and Performance, the result and original hypothesis are accepted. However, in the area of Achievements there is a significant difference in terms of sex. Therefore, the hypothesis was rejected. The overall mean of Skills is 4.26, as well as Performance is 4.04 accordingly Achievements is 4.12 and all indicators are high. The researchers came up to a conclusion based on the result that the employee’s perception is frequently manifested by the employees and managers. The researchers recommend that the (1) The researcher recommend to the management should provide a fair performance appraisal so that their employees will satisfy the result to achieve the organizational goals. Also, the managers should consider their employees of those who felt biases to measure their performance in order for them to work fairly in the workplace. (2) The researchers recommend to the employees that they should know their dearth according from the results of their performance appraisal. Also, to be more productive, effective and efficient in the workplace. (3) The researchers recommended to the future researcher that they have to explore a more comprehensive study regarding the topic with a much broader scope.en_US
