| dc.description.abstract | For most people, growing up in a family with a comfortable home is a privilege. For orphans
and neglected children, this is something that they long to experience. Despite the high
prevalence of orphans and the importance of their welfare, there is an evident gap in the
literature about users' perceptions and experiences regarding the built environment quality of
the orphanage facilities. Thus, it is essential to shedding light on the children's welfare and the
environment they grow up in. This study aimed to determine the quality level of the built
environment in the selected orphanages in Tugbok, Davao City. The researcher used mixed
quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct a survey, interview, and ocular inspection.
There were approximately eighty-eight (88) respondents, including the orphans (ages ten years
old and above) and caretakers in the study. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique
that studies a specific group in selected orphanages. Furthermore, the statistical tools used to
interpret and analyze the data were descriptive analysis-mean, standard deviation, and thematic
analysis. The study used a concurrent triangulation design to analyze the quantitative and
qualitative data. The result showed that the quality level of the built environment in the selected
orphanages was good; however, some indoor and outdoor spaces need improvement, especially
in Indoor Environment Quality.
