Path-goal leadership of school heads and organizational commitment of teachers

Abstract
This study was to find out which domain in path goal leadership of school heads best influenced the organizational commitment of teachers. The respondents of the study were the elementary teachers of Maragusan District, Division of Compostela Valley for School Year 2016-2017. The study was quantitative non-experimental using a correlational technique. An adapted-modified questionnaire was used in gathering the data. Mean Pearson-R and Linear regression were applied. Results showed that, the level of path goal leadership in terms of supportive leadership, directive leadership and achievement-oriented leadership was very high, while participative leadership was high. Whereas the level of organizational commitment of teachers in terms of affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment was very high. There was a significant relationship between path goal leadership and organizational commitment of teachers and supportive leadership, participative leadership and achievement-oriented leadership were the domains that significantly influenced the organizational commitment of teachers in thier singular capacities. Among these items, supportive leadership came out to be the domain that best influences organizational commitment of teachers.
