dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of the study was to determine the level of proficiency of English 4th year major students. This study was conducted to 125 students in a Private University in Davao City. This study made us of a quantitative non-experimental type of research. The study also aims to identify external influence in using verb tenses, and to evaluate the students’ perception about the importance of using proper tenses and aspects in speaking and writing. It reveals that the students were proficient in using simple present perfect, simple past, simple past perfect and present progressive. On the other hand students were not proficient in present progressive, past perfect progressive, future perfect progressive and present perfect progressive.en_US
