This 2024 study by Arvīds Barševskis examines the beetle genus Microplocia (family Cerambycidae) in the Philippines. It describes a new species, Microplocia medinai, discovered on Luzon Island, making it the second known species of this genus in the country and bringing the global total to five. The paper provides a detailed morphological description, images, and a key to distinguish Philippine species, especially from the similar Microplocia puncticollis. It also includes a checklist of species and notes that both Philippine members of the genus are found only on Luzon. The study highlights the still limited knowledge of beetle diversity in the region and the need for further research.en_US
Microplocia medinai sp. nov. from Luzon Island (Philippines) is described and illustrated. This is the second species of the genus Microplocia Heller, 1924 from the Philippine archipelago. Both species of this genus in the Philippines are known from Luzon Island.
